Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tamer Aslan's Solo Exhibitions Met African Art Lovers

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Fine Arts Ceramics and Glass Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tamer Aslan held two solo exhibitions themed "Anatolia" in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, and Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, under the auspices of the Turkish Embassies.

Tamer Aslan, assigned to conduct the University Entrance Examination for International Students (OMU-YÖS) in South Africa, held an "Anatolia" themed leather relief solo exhibition at the Embassy of Harare on 6-8 June 2022 and then at the Maputo Embassy between 9-10 June 2022.

Many diplomatic missions, Zimbabwean art lovers and Zimbabwe National Gallery Executive Director Raphael Chikukwa attended the first exhibition inaugurated by Ambassador Hakan Kıvanç at The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Harare.

Raphael Chikukwa, Executive Director of the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, expressed his views on the leather relief works showcased at the exhibition. He also stated that there are highly successful works of high artistic value in Zimbabwe and that multicultural works can be produced and promoted through leather relief works and stone sculptures.

After the exhibition, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tamer Aslan presented a leather relief portrait of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk to Ambassador Hakan Kıvanç. Ambassador Kıvanç presented a badge to Aslan for his achievements in art.

At the meeting between Chikukwa and Aslan held after the exhibition, Chikukwa received information about the 20 handmade leather relief works. The two also shared information on future collaboration opportunities between the Zimbabwe Art School and OMU Fine Arts Faculty on cooperation in various fields such as art studies and exhibitions.

The second exhibition opened in Mozambique

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tamer Aslan held his second exhibition in the Turkish Embassy exhibition area in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique. Turkish Ambassador Hüseyin Avni Aksoy and his wife Sibel Atasoy Aksoy, many diplomatic members, Mozambican art lovers and respected business people attended the exhibition.

During the bilateral discussions with the officials of the TIKA Mozambique Coordination Office, the cooperation opportunities between OMU and Mozambique in the fields of art were reviewed.
