Turkish Red Crescent opens its 36th boutique, in where clothes are given to the needy university students for free, at Ondokuz Mayıs University’s (OMU) Main Campus.

Governor of Samsun Osman Kaymak, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Sait Bilgiç, General Vice President of Turkish Red Crescent İsmail Hakkı Turunç, Head Office Board Member Ercan Tan and Head of Samsun Branch Dr. Habib Demirel, Heads of District Branches, representatives and students have attended the opening ceremony.

General Vice President of Turkish Red Crescent İsmail Hakkı Turunç said the following: “We have opened other boutiques in various universities. Students can take any items they desire. Please consider this as giving gifts. Do not see it as a cloth given by Red Crescent, consider it a gift from your elders. This is a project. We will extend this project into other universities as well. I would like to thank Samsun Governorate, our Samsun Branch, and OMU Rectorate who helped us with this project, and I also would like to thank everyone who contributed.”

OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Sait Bilgiç said the following: “Helping one another, giving and receiving gifts are beautiful values of humankind. Turkish Red Crescent is the institutionalized version of these values. They work with a candid team which tries to be there for the downtrodden, deprived, needy people wherever they might be across the world. A tiny part of this team will be operating here together with us. Hopefully, it will meet the needs of our students. We also are operating a similar boutique for years. This will be our second one, thanks to Red Crescent.”
